Skype COM API and Skype Contact List ActiveX BETA

If you are Windows developer this is the package for you. It contains two components made to make building Skype API applications more simple, robust and fast!

]]>The Skype COM API is an object-oriented way of looking it Skype. You get collections of user object, properties to read and write, methods to call and events that trigger when you expect them to! All the good stuff! It contains the full feature set of the Skype 2.0 API including groups, app2app messaging and video. Among of the most useful features is caching. It let’s you traverse the user collection or any other collection very quickly because all that information is already kept in memory by the Skype 4 COM API.

The Skype Contact List ActiveX is a way to add the Skype main window, the contact list, to your form. It let’s you see all your Skype contacts without writing a single line of code. Of course, if you want to customize the list you can do so by sorting, filtering, setting fonts and colors etc. It has all the properties and events that you would expect and more. If you right-click one of your Skype contacts you get all the well-loved Skype actions, but it is also possible to add custom actions to that list.

Download file

To use the attached components simply unzip the file and run the skype_contacts.exe file. It will install the filese depicted below:

Fine print:
Skype 2.0 for Windows or later is required to be installed. These components are still in beta, so we don’t recommend deploying these components to end-users just yet, but please feel free to try them out and develop your applications with them. Right now we are working on documentation and some example scripts. We did not want to delay publication, to wait for that, though!
We hope you will find them as useful as we do!

I used it for tests. That’s very nice!
I have a problem when I set “Anchor” or “Dock” property to autoresize the SkypeContactList component: the Application return an error when I try to resize the Form. I have used VS 2003.
