The new share.skype com blogs are here

So enjoy. We fixed a lot of visible things…

* sign in sometimes not working
* some weird backslashes and formatting showing up and words “eaten” when commenting
* developer zone feed not updating

… plus the whole thing is much friendlier to authors and editors.

]]>UPDATE: in addition to the above, one quite annoying property of the old blogs was that the feeds content was garbled in many of the news readers, making the feeds simply unusable. This is now fixed and the feeds should read fine in standard readers.

The blogs are running on [Six Apart's](http://www.sixapart.com) [Movable Type](http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/) platform. This is the first example of many fun things that Skype and Six Apart will do together in the future. But apart from knowing Six Apart, we chose MT simply because it’s a good platform to host blogs on. We’ve seen quite a few platforms and we’re using some others at the same time — for example, one of Skype’s internal blogs runs on [Wordpress](http://www.wordpress.org) (hi [Matt](http://photomatt.net/)!), but for the Share Skype blogs, we found Movable Type to be optimal.

One change that has already happened and will happen more is that we will pay more attention to those people who don’t read English. Which actually means the majority of Skype users. We had the blog only in English, and while English continues to be the main language that we do business and development in, we already have an [Estonian blog](/sites/et/) and will add more languages with separate content, feeds and editors shortly, so stay tuned.
