Skype's video had its first live public test… and passed

Skype’s Niklas Zennström and board member Tim Draper just finished an hour-long interview from Skype’s engineering office to a conference for 200 people at [www.alwayson-network.com](http://www.alwayson-network.com) in
Stanford, California. They used Skype video and their pretty faces were beamed up on two gigantic screens with top video and audio quality. The audience were VERY impressed (not with what they had to say but just seeing them). Super thanks to everyone at Skype team involved in developing video, and setting up the event on both sides (standard PC-s and web cams were used). [See the archived session.](http://www.alwayson-network.com/comments.php?id=11288_0_4_0_C)

This is still an internal testing version, so don’t yet ask how or where can you get it and how exactly it looks and works. But as you see, we’re getting closer. We’ve been waiting for this a long time — work on video started more than a year ago, and we’ve come a long way.

I’ve asked for my free SkypeOut gift, and the site told me my acount should be activated in 12 hours.

When i singned up again into my skype acount website there was a post telling me i had allready recieved my gift but my SkypeOut account wasn’t activated. by when the 12 hours have been finished the SkypeOut free day was too, so i lost my gift.

    what can i do?
is the free SkypeOut day relative to sweden or my local time?
sorry about my horrible english (i only speak spanish)

Will the video skype be available for the mac versions as well? And if so, will it be compatible with the iSight web camera?

I’m hoping for a Mac version of Skype Video (with iSight integration) too. All the current video conferencing (Mac to PC, PC to PC) methods are cumbersome and have trouble with firewalls. A friend and I recently spent an hour setting up Trillian Pro’s AIM video calling with iChat/iSight. It was working great in our house (though audio was not as good as Skype), but when my friend was at his hotel, the hotel’s firewall prevented it from working. Please release Skype Video ASAP! Thanks!

Just started using Skype a few weeks ago and love it, but what I really want is to see my 2 granddaughters in Apex, NC on video. I am planning on looking at MSN Messenger Video to accomplish that goal. I use Netscape just to spite Microsoft and I don’t want to abandon Skype.
Is there a Beta Test version of Skype video we could use to get this process moving?

I can hardly wait to be able to use video on Skype. I love this program. Living overseas from family and friends, I have been able to get them all on Skype with few exceptions, and those only because they don’t use high-speed. Talking to them on Skype from the other side of the world is as clear as a local telephone call. Video Skype will make it even better, as I am sure your video quality will be as good as your voice technology is compared to any other. I wish I could have video skype now!
