Doing interviews with Skype
A good [collection of tips'n'tricks](http://www.rds.com/blogs/doug/index.php/archives/2005/07/14/interviews-via-skype) of how to use Skype for interviews. We’re happy to see that Skype keeps improving and giving folks reasons to revisit their earlier decisions.
> It has been a long-standing rule here at IT Conversations that we don’t conduct interviews over Skype, but recent improvements in Skype as well as additional experience has caused us to revisit that restriction.
Although there are many software-based call recording solutions available for Skype and some other programs even have it as built-in feature, it’s wise to record speakers on separate tracks for post-processing, as the article suggests. We’ve heard that various radio stations are doing that.
cool tool, thanks
Thank you Skype for a wonderful expansion to my life. It has transformed everything
One big thing is that it would really help to be able to choose a codec quality. Many times the connection is very bad but the recording would be better if you just could reduce it to a lower quality.
Main reason to use an external recording application is: running Skype and a recording device will screw up the recording (and the call) and you get rid of this ugly echo.
I find the articles on Skype Share too few and far between. This could be an interesting website to visit more frequently, but I’m losing interest.
Freecorder is a great way to do this on Windows PCs. Pause & Resume, call counter, a variety of naming options, automatically convert to MP3 and a lot more make this a snap. Here’s the link:

I have a Mac OS X Tiger–I want to record skype conversations. I have read much about this but it doesn’t seem to work as described. Is there a product available to facilitate this process?
Here is a MAC solution to recording calls
I am using a Tascam US-122 USB interface, but you can use the built-in audio out and in or your own device. Here is my configuration using Soundflower and Linein, both of which are free downloads.
Sound Studio:
Audio output: Tascam US-122
Audio Input: Soundflower (2ch)
Skype:
Audio output: Soundflower (2ch)
Audio input: Soundflower (2ch)
System Preferences/Sound:
Output: Tascam US-122
Input: Tascam US-122
LineIn Application:
Input from: Tascam US-122
Output to SoundFlower (2ch)
Works great for me. Good luck.

Hi,
I have tried this but it did not work for me. Because the output goes to soundflower I cannot hear my partner. How do you solve this?
different solution for Skype recording: http://www.g-recorder.com.
In addition to Skype call recording, it combines mp3 recordings with Skype chats making solid conversations and stores them to user’s Gmail account. A simple solution that gives many benefits:
- your chat and call history is accessible to you from anywhere anytime
- you won’t lost your chat history reinstalling or changing your PC
- Skype chat history is merged from different computers chronologically in single storage
