Skype for Windows 1.3 Beta available
Skype for Windows 1.3 Beta is now [available](http://www.skype.com/products/skype/windows/). As is usual with the public betas, we recommend them only for advanced users and testing purposes — there are a few [known issues](http://www.skype.com/help/guides/knownproblems.html#1.3), but it should not cause any data loss or do other sorts of major damage. Your comments and feedback are welcome in the [forum](http://forum.skype.com).

]]>Full list of changes is available in the [change log](http://www.skype.com/products/skype/windows/changelog.html) — here are the four more important ones.
* **there is no more Start tab.** Instead, we have Events and Services areas, that handily let you access your missed events such as calls, chats, and voicemails, and let you see the services you have activated and your remaining Skype balance.
* **Skype Voicemail subscribers can now leave voicemail to anyone**, not just the users who have voicemail themselves. We believe this feature is a major step forward in how we think of voice mail and voice messaging.
* **improved emoticons**. We put in a couple of new ones, and animated these and some old ones to liven up your chats.
* **improved profile viewing and editing**, with larger picture displaying size and rearranged fields with more clear descriptions.
Nothing to do with Skype 1.3, but I didn’t find a contact form…
Just to let you know that your RSS feed doesn’t show properly in Bloglines, one of the major feed reader. It’s almost unreadable.

oh!
Jaanus… I think it would be really good that you adopt a naming convention for the Setup Files like you do for the Beta: SkypeSetup(version).exe, and not every time SkypeSetup. The reason is very simple… I’m, for example, putting the Setup on the “/Software/Internet/Skype” Share on my Company’s network (I try to stay organized…), and I think it’s a good idea to keep a history of the version, in case of a bug in a version. That said, except a weird bug when scrolling, I never saw a bug in the Windows version (the Mac version it’s another deal, this is pretty “crashy” ). Thanks for this new version and keep on rocking ! Ps: In the hope that Skype gives a better image of Europe than French Dutch voters
Is it just me, or did the technical info (when you hover over a call) go away? I used to like to see how many relays my call was routed through…
Great! It’s a good news. But why there is no video talk?
Just a comment. I don’t know if it is my computer (it prob is), but another bug i found is:
Won’t call a person when you click on “callto://someskypeusername” in Firefox.
but for MAC?
barkerjr: The call info is still present. What’s better – it won’t dissapear after few seconds – just hover the mouse pointer over photo during a call and you can see call info as long as the call lasts.
“but for MAC? “
Ahh, macs suck (no offence though. Sorry, butI have used them in the past and they never work for me, Get a PC)
I think your new base line “The world can talk for free” lost in power and is reductive of your identity. Why did you change it?
Good.
Anyone know if the 1.3 Beta version works on Windows Server 2003?
Yes it works with Windows Server 2003. Can’t tell about SP1 for Windows Server 2003.
